Detection Indicator PXLED

Summary

The Proxicam Detection Indicator (SKU: PXLED) is a compact, in-cabin alert module designed to notify machine operators of pedestrian proximity events. Combining a high-visibility yellow LED with an integrated piezo buzzer, it delivers immediate audio-visual warnings when an exclusion zone is breached. It is ideally suited for single-zone detection setups where space is limited and an LCD monitor is not required.

Features and Functions

Audio-Visual Alerts

  • Integrated Warning System:
Features a bright yellow LED (830mcd) and a built-in piezo buzzer outputting 80dB (±10dB) at a frequency of 750Hz (±25Hz) for clear notification in noisy environments.
  • System-Ready Notification:
Emits a double flash of the LED and a double audible beep when the system boot-up is complete and detection zones are active. Note: This startup sequence is suppressed when the PXLED is wired in conjunction with the DV-Hub.
  • Zone Compatibility:
Optimized for single exclusion zone alerts. Unlike the LCD Monitor, the PXLED cannot issue multi-staged (escalating) zone alerts.

Hardware and Environmental Durability

  • Compact Footprint:
Measuring just 63(L) x 32(W) x 83(H) mm, the module easily fits into crowded machine cabins without obstructing operator visibility.
  • Environmental Durability:
The unit is resin-filled, achieving an IP67 water and dustproof rating, ensuring reliable operation in harsh industrial conditions.

Installation and Usage

  1. Mounting:
Utilize the two integrated mounting tabs to secure the Detection Indicator inside the cabin. Ensure it is placed in the direct line-of-sight of the machine operator so the LED is clearly visible.
  2. Harness Connection:
Route the 4-core, 4.8mm OD cable and connect the 4-PIN DIN screw-lock connector to the Proxicam Accessory Harness, ensuring the waterproof O-ring seal is tight.

    See wiring diagram >

  3. Voltage Regulation:
Ensure the Proxicam Voltage Converter (PXVC) is installed in-line between the camera and the harness. The PXLED will NOT function without the PXVC acting as the I/O relay.
  4. Conditional Trigger Input:
The PXLED requires a switched positive supply to activate.
Connect the Alarm-In wire to the desired conditional trigger.
If conditional alerting is not required, wire the Alarm-In  directly to a continuous positive (12V-48V DC) power source.
  5. Configuration:
Use the Proxicam Configuration App via WiFi to toggle the desired detection zones to ON under the Alerts & Triggers menu, and set the required Trigger Duration (in milliseconds).

Troubleshooting & FAQ

The PXLED does not sound or flash when a person enters the detection zone.

Ensure the Proxicam Voltage Converter (PXVC) is installed in the circuit; the PXLED and trigger outputs cannot function without it. Additionally, verify that voltage is being applied to the Alarm-In wire. If the system is not set up for conditional triggers, this wire must be connected to a continuous positive power supply. Finally, check the Configuration App to ensure the zone's output trigger is toggled to ON.

The PXLED did not issue a "System-Ready" double beep on startup. This is expected behavior if the

PXLED is wired in conjunction with the Proxicam DV-HUB. If no DV-HUB is present, check the connections to the PXVC and ensure the camera has fully booted to an active state.
