Summary
The Proxicam Pedestrian Detection System delivers immediate, high-impact operator alerts whenever a human breaches a predefined machine exclusion zone. By utilizing visual and audible notifications through either the Proxicam LCD Monitor (PXLCD) or the compact Detection Indicator (PXLED), the system ensures operators maintain critical situational awareness. These alerts are highly customizable via the system's software, allowing administrators to cut through environmental noise and actively mitigate operator alert fatigue.
Features and Functions
Proxicam Detection Indicator (PXLED) Alerts
For installations where cabin space is limited or an LCD screen is not required, the PXLED module provides a localized alert interface.
- Visual Indication:
Flashes a high-visibility yellow LED light upon a detection event. - Audible Warnings:
Generates a constant audible alert via an integrated internal piezo buzzer. - Single-Zone Operation: The PXLED hardware does not support multi-staged (escalating) zone alerts and is strictly suited for single exclusion zone monitoring.
The PXLED can also be used in conjunction with the LCD Monitor.
Proxicam LCD Monitor (PXLCD) Alerts
When utilizing the PXLCD Monitor, the system provides comprehensive, multi-sensory warnings directly inside the machine cabin.
- Visual Indication:
Displays a real-time, on-screen bounding-box overlay tracking the detected person(s). - Audible Warnings:
Emits an audible alarm or a spoken voice alert directly from the monitor's built-in speaker. - Multi-Staged Zone Escalation:
When the system is configured with layered zones (Green, Yellow, Red), the frequency of the audible alert automatically increases as the pedestrian's distance relative to the machine decreases.
Configuring Operator Alert Options
Authorized technicians can tailor the alert outputs using the Proxicam Configuration App to suit specific site safety requirements. Navigate to the Monitor Display Options and Alerts & Triggers menus to adjust the following variables:
- Alert Sound Type:
Select from seven different tone frequencies to optimize audibility in specific environmental noise conditions, or choose spoken voice alerts in English or Spanish. - Alarm Intervals:
Independently set the audio beep frequency for the Green Alarm Interval, Yellow Alarm Interval, and Red Alarm Interval. - Detection Box:
Toggle the on-screen bounding box overlay ON or OFF. - Zone Overlay Style & OSD Font Size:
Adjust the visual style of the on-screen detection lines and the size of the text overlay for improved operator visibility. - Trigger Duration:
Defines the minimum length of time (in milliseconds) that the PXLED and output triggers remain active when a pedestrian is detected. The system default is set to 200ms.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Why doesn't my Detection Indicator (PXLED) have multi-staged escalating alarms?
The Proxicam Detection Indicator (PXLED) is designed strictly for single-zone exclusion and cannot issue multi-staged (escalating) alerts. If your site requires varying alert frequencies as pedestrians move from green to red zones, you must upgrade the machine to the Proxicam LCD Monitor (PXLCD), which natively supports this feature.
The operator receives an audible alert, but no bounding box appears around the pedestrian on the PXLCD.
Access the Proxicam Configuration App via the WiFi interface. Navigate to the Monitor Display Options menu and verify that the Detection Box toggle has not been accidentally set to OFF.
The PXLED does not sound or flash when a pedestrian enters the detection zone.
Verify that the Proxicam Voltage Converter & I/O Controller (PXVC) is installed in the camera circuit. The PXLED operates using the conditional input triggers routed through the PXVC; it will not function if the PXVC is missing. Additionally, check the Alerts & Triggers menu in the Configuration App to ensure the target zone (Green, Yellow, or Red) is actively toggled to ON.

- Visual indicator with on-screen bounding–box overlay around the detected person(s).
- Audible alarm or spoken voice, played via the monitors’ built-in speaker.
- When using multi-staged zones, the frequency of the audible alert increases relative to the distance from the machine,
in accordance with each zone.

- Visual indicator via yellow LED light.
- Constant audible alert via an internal Piezzo buzzer.
- Remains active while the person is within the detection zone.
- NOT able to issue multi-staged zone alerts.
- Suited to single exclusion zones only
