Features and Functions

Software Capabilities

  • Portable Application:
The software runs as a standalone executable (DV-Player.exe), requiring no prior installation on the host PC.
  • Intelligent Database Caching:
Automatically indexes and logs newly scanned video files on the drive, ensuring that subsequent scans complete significantly faster.
  • Advanced Data Filtering:
Users can isolate specific date ranges using the calendar tool, and utilize checkboxes to filter results between Normal (continuous) recordings and Event (proximity detection) files.
  • High-Definition Video Exporting:
Videos are exported in H.264 MP4 format at a resolution of 1280x720 pixels (25fps).
  • Flexible Output Layouts:
Users can extract a single specific camera feed (Left, Right, Front, Rear) or export a combined, synchronized video containing **All Cameras (2x2 Grid)**.
  • Automated File Naming:
Exported MP4 (H264) files are automatically named with essential metadata for easy archival, formatted as: Timestamp_AssetID_VideoCategory_VideoChannel.

Installation and Usage

A SATA-to-USB adapter (not supplied) is required to interface the DV-Hub's SSD with a computer running Windows 10 or 11.

  1. Retrieve the Drive:
Ensure the DV-Hub is powered down. Use the supplied key to unlock the front door, lift the left latch, and pull the SSD straight out.
  2. Connect to PC:
Attach the SATA port of the SSD to a SATA-to-USB adapter (not supplied), and plug the USB connector into your Windows PC.
  3. Launch the Application:
Open 'This PC' or 'File Explorer' to locate and enter the drive. Open and run the DV-Player.exe executable located in the root directory of the SSD Drive.
  4. Wait for Initialization:
The application will perform an initial scan for new video files. This process can take up to 30 minutes depending on the size of the drive and the volume of stored data.
  5. Search for Footage:
In the calendar interface, click a start date then an end date, then click the Search Videos button. Note: If searching for a single day, you must click that specific day twice before searching.
  6. Video Playback:
From the populated list on the right, select a video file and press the Play button. Playback progress can be controlled by dragging the orange dot on the progress bar.
  7. Exporting Evidence:
Select a video from the list or pause the current video and click the Export dropdown menu. Select the desired camera channel, or the 2x2 grid. In the File Save dialog, navigate to your desired local PC folder and click Save.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

The video list does not show any videos after searching.
Check inside the /record/normal/ folder; each folder in this directory is named with a date (YYYYMMDD), then the subfolders are the hour of the day, and then the next folder level down are the minutes of the hour. The video files are located within the minutes-level folder and should be playable using a standard media player (Such as VLC Media Player)

If files are present but not appearing in the app, manually delete the .DV-Player folder from the SSD's root directory and relaunch the application to force a fresh index scan.

The SSD is empty and there are no files or folders on the drive.
This can occur if the SSD was not successfully formatted during initial setup, or if the device configuration was changed using the DV-Config app. When a new configuration is applied, the DV-Hub may format the SSD, which permanently erases any historical video data stored on the drive.
The SD card should always remain installed in the device during normal operation.
If you need to change the device configuration but do not want the SSD to be formatted, temporarily remove the SSD before applying the configuration. Boot the device with only the SD card inserted so the new configuration can be applied. Once the device has rebooted successfully, shut the device down, then reinstall the SSD.

My antivirus software detected the DV-Player app as malware and quarantined it.
Some antivirus programs falsely flag the portable DV-Player executable as malware because of heightened sensitivity to unsigned bundled applications. You will need to add the DV-Player app to your antivirus exclusion list to prevent removal, or contact your corporate IT support team for administrative assistance.
