Camera Configuration App

Summary

The Proxicam Camera Configuration App is an embedded, web-based setup and diagnostic interface hosted directly on the Proxicam AI Camera (PXCAM-EVO). Accessible via any WiFi-enabled smartphone, tablet, or laptop, it allows technicians and installers to accurately calibrate detection zones, customize audio-visual alerts, and manage system firmware without the need to install a third-party app.

System Features and Functions

Detection Zone Setup

The application allows for precise mapping of the AI's pedestrian detection areas to match the specific operating parameters of the machine.

  • Active Zones:
Toggle individual detection zones (Green, Yellow, Red) to ON or OFF.
  • Zone Shape:
Select from predefined geometries including Rectangular, Trapezoid, Semi Circle, and Vertical.
  • Drag Freely:
Enabling this removes rigid shape constraints, allowing the technician to touch and drag the zone corners into a custom, free-form shape.

Monitor Display Options

Configure how the camera's video feed and detection overlays are presented on the connected LCD Monitor or DV-Hub.

  • Image Orientation:
Utilize Mirror Camera Image (to correct orientation for rear-facing cameras) or Flip Camera Image (for vertical inversion).
  • Remove Fisheye Effect:
Crops the top and bottom of the image to mathematically reduce the ultra-wide lens warping.
  • Video Frame Rate:
Define the frame rate sent to the LCD or DV-Hub. This should remain at 25fps to ensure optimum image quality.
  • Alert Sound Type:
Select from seven different tone frequencies to cut through environmental noise, or choose spoken alerts in English or Spanish.
  • Alarm Intervals:
Adjust the frequency/speed of the audible alerts  independently for the Green Zone Interval, Yellow Zone Interval, and Red Zone Interval.

Alerts & Triggers

Manage the hardware output triggers that activate external devices (e.g., sirens, beacons, the PXLED Detection Indicator or the PXALERT Proxicam External Pedestrian Alert).

  • Trigger Output Toggles:
Enable or disable the physical output trigger for each specific zone breach (Green, Yellow, Red).
  • Trigger Duration:
Set the minimum active duration for the output signal (in milliseconds). The system default is 200ms.
  • Advanced Warning Functions:
Configure Poor Visibility alerts and assign language-specific spoken warnings for Aruco Hazard Markers.

System Settings

  • Camera Configuration File:
Use Import Config or Export Config to rapidly deploy identical zone configurations across a fleet of identical machines.
  • Diagnostics:
Export Log files for technical support, view the current Firmware version, or execute a Reset to Default.

Configuration and Setup Steps

  1. Connect the WiFi Interface:
Ensure the machine's power is OFF. Plug the USBCAL WiFi Dongle Y-Harness in-line between the Proxicam Camera and the main extension harness. Turn the machine power ON.
  2. Join the Network:
On your smart device, search for available WiFi networks and connect to the SSID: PXCAM-********* (asterisks represent the unique camera serial). Enter the Password supplied with the product.
  3. Launch the Application:
Scan the QR code on the Proxicam packaging.
  4. Login:
At the prompt, enter the Username: installer and leave the Password field completely blank.
  5. Physical Zone Calibration:
Place physical cone markers on the ground around the machine at the desired detection distances. Navigate to the Detection Zone Setup menu, enable the required zones and select Apply, then select and drag the corner circles of the intersecting on-screen lines so they accurately align with your physical cones.
  6. Finalize and Disconnect:
Click Apply to save changes. Power down the machine, remove the USBCAL WiFi Dongle harness, and reconnect the camera directly to the extension harness.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

The Configuration App will not load in my web browser, despite being connected to the WiFi network.

Smartphones frequently attempt to automatically route traffic through mobile data when connected to a WiFi network without internet access. On Android devices, disable settings like "Switch to mobile data." On Apple iOS devices, navigate to cellular settings and ensure "WiFi Assist" is disabled. Ensure you select Always Connect or Keep Connection if prompted by the phone. You do not want to "Use Mobile Data".

To test the WiFi connection is correctly set, in your phones browser attempt to navigate to a webpage, if the WiFi connection is correct, you should not be able to load any other webpage other than the Configuration App.

The video image on my LCD monitor is heavily distorted or flashing after calibration.

Verify that the Video Frame Rate under the Monitor Display Options menu has not been altered. A frame rate mismatch between the camera and the Proxicam Monitor or DV-Hub will cause poor video quality or distortion. It must remain set to 25fps.

Can I leave the WiFi dongle connected for remote troubleshooting?

No. The USBCAL WiFi interface and USB harness are not weatherproof. Leaving them connected exposes the system's circuitry to water and dust ingress, and will immediately void the IP69K rating of the camera and can result in hardware failure.
