Connnecting to the Camera via WiFi

Summary

To configure the Proxicam Pedestrian Detection System, technicians must temporarily connect to the camera via a local WiFi network. This is achieved using the Proxicam USB WiFi Camera Calibration Dongle (USBCAL), which creates a direct peer-to-peer connection between the camera and a smart device or laptop. Once connected, users can seamlessly access the web-based Configuration App to calibrate detection zones and adjust system parameters.

  7. On the login screen, enter the Username installer and leave the Password field empty.
  8. Once camera calibration is complete, turn the machine power off and permanently disconnect the USBCAL dongle.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

The web browser will not load the Configuration App after connecting to the WiFi network.
Some smart devices will automatically switch to mobile data when they detect a WiFi network without an active internet connection, preventing the browser from loading the local App. For Android devices, ensure any advanced WiFi features that automatically switch to mobile data are disabled. For Apple (iOS) devices, ensure WiFi Assist is disabled.

Can I leave the USBCAL WiFi dongle permanently installed on the machine?
No. The Proxicam USBCAL interface and its Y-harness are not water or dust proof. They are designed strictly as a temporary peer-to-peer connection for system setup. You must completely remove the dongle and harness from the circuit before the machine returns to active service to prevent damage.
